The Sedona Women - Covid 19 Action
Here are some ways you can help our local community during this difficult time.

Do you Sew?

There's an urgent need for masks and gowns at our local medical facilities.  Sewers throughout the Verde Valley are producing these items on their home machines.  SedonaKind and The Sedona Women are working together on this project.  If you have a sewing machine and can help out, please contact Ellen Ferreira at sedonaellen@gmail.com or Joy Sinnott at sedonakind@gmail.com.

If you  have clean sheets that can be made into gowns, OR 1/4" elastic, OR pipe cleaners, please drop them on the porch of Toby Friedman, 100 Mitchell Drive in West Sedona, or Joy Sinnott at 337 Acacia Dr. in Mystic Hills.  Thank you!

Make your Financial Contributions Go Farther!

The Arizona Community Foundation (ACF) has established a Sedona Verde Valley COFID 19 Community Response Fund to help get emergency funding to the non-profits that are providing critical services. ACF has seeded the fund with an $80k match. In other words, the first $80k donated will be matched by ACF dollar for dollar.

The Sedona Women intended to make a donation to the food bank. Cathleen, the Director, asked that instead, we make our donation through Arizona Community Foundation, so the donation will be doubled. It will be earmarked for The Sedona Community Food Bank.

Please let your friends, coworkers,  family, religious group, neighborhood association etc… know about the fund.  Every dollar donated will stay in our community. We are all facing financial uncertainty right now but please encourage people to give what they can. Donations can be made through the website or mailed to Arizona Community Foundation, P.O. Box 558, Sedona AZ 86339

Drive Thru Food Drop Off!

The TSW Tuesday morning drop offs at The Sedona Community Food Bank have been very successful and deeply appreciated. Now the need for this program is even greater, as more and more people in our community find themselves without an income. We just learned that the Food Pantry at St. John Vianney, which served between 50-60 families a week, is closing, for lack of volunteers. This means there will be an even greater need at the Food Bank, which saw traffic increase 10% just this week.

As a refresher of how our program works:  Every Tuesday, for the foreseeable future, we will, in our own vehicles, drop off pre-sorted bags (or boxes) of food to the Food Bank. Put your bags in your trunk. There’s no need to get out of your car.

If the bags we drop off include an assortment of nourishing, non-perishable items, they can be distributed directly to those in need. That means the Food Bank volunteers won’t have to unpack, sort and redistribute the items for each bag they give out.

Families of 1 or 2 people receive a bag with 10 items.

Families of 3 or more are given a bag or box with 20 items.

Bring as many bags as you like. Even one with 10 items will be greatly appreciated!

Also appreciated are financial donations!

The Food Bank is at the top of Sunset Road on the lower level of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Turn left into the main driveway and stop at the small driveway on the far side of the building and beep your horn. Someone will come out and happily take your contribution.

So, in a nutshell
1) Purchase a variety of non-perishable food items (if you pull items from your own pantry please check their expiration date),
2) Place a good assortment in every bag you donate (either 10 or 20 items),
3) Drop off your bag(s) at the Food Bank at 680 Sunset Road between
7:30 am - noon on any Tuesday.
4) If you can’t put an assortment of food in your bag, that’s fine. Just let the volunteer know that your food should be put on their shelves, not handed out as a complete bag.

Suggested non-perishable items: Peanut butter, canned or dried beans, canned meats/fish, canned vegetables, soups, chili,  cereal, applesauce or packaged fruits, rice, pasta, pasta sauce. If you want to donate other items, such as sought after toilet paper, tissues, hand sanitizer, please bring them but don’t put them in your donation bag. They'll be doled out judiciously. If you can donate plastic or brown paper grocery bags, those will help a lot! The stores will no longer sell them to the Food Bank, which goes through hundreds a week.

Please call the Food Bank directly at 928 204-2808 if you have questions. Thank you for helping your neighbors in need!!
