Black History Month

  • February 08, 2024
  • 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Sedona Public Library

Celebrate Black History Month as we hear from Sedona resident Maudelle Terry, former San Francisco news reporter, executive, actress, and author, when she shares her Grandmother Baker’s Black wisdom on a wide variety of topics.

When Maudelle was three, her parents divorced, and her Grandmother Baker relocated to San Diego to become the legal guardian of Maudelle and her two brothers. Maudelle learned much from her beloved grandmother, who was born in Lovelady, Texas, in 1892 to a Black mother and a half-Cherokee father.

The pearls of wisdom that Grandma Baker imparted have been memorialized in Terry’s “Grandma Baker’s 22 Rules for Understanding Life and Men." They helped Maudelle navigate many challenging and exciting experiences throughout her life.

The program will be held at the Sedona Public Library, 3250 White Bear Road, in West Sedona. A meet-and-greet will begin at 9:30 am, followed by the business meeting, program, and Q and A.

No registration is required and guests are welcome.
