EVERYTHING I KNOW I LEARNED FROM HUMMINGBIRDS

with

BETH KINGSLEY HAWKINS

There is a lot to learn about these tiny travelers and Beth Kingsley Hawkins, Executive Director of the International Hummingbird Society, is just the person to inform our members about this special bird.

Hummingbirds continue to be a source of inspiration for Beth who has studied them for decades, captured their essence through photography, written books about them and shared her many stories in lectures and presentations.

Hawkins will share the many lessons to be learned from hummingbirds including their incredible courage, how they take and give back to nature, and many other attributes that we humans would be well advised to emulate.  Hawkins believes there is a mystical, spiritual dimension to hummingbirds as well.  She will share stories of hummingbirds acting as messengers that connect us to our loved ones in Spirit to help us understand that love never dies.

Beth and her late husband Ross Hawkins, founded of the Society in 1996 and its headquarters are right here in our own Village. The Society, with its mission of education and conservation, is spearheading a 2023 campaign in partnership with the American Bird Conservancy to purchase more habitat for the critically endangered Marvelous Spatuletail in Peru. It is truly one of the most spectacular of all hummingbirds with two long tail feathers that have spatula-like endings which the male gyrates up and down in a dance of love for the female.

This program will be held on Wednesday, February 8th, at the Creative Life Center at 333 Schnebly Hill Road in Sedona. A meet-and-greet will begin at 9:30 am, followed by the business meeting, program, and Q and A.

No registration is required and guests are welcome.

There will be an optional lunch after the meeting. The location will be announced by email.
