9/10/26 Women’s Achievements in U.S. History — The program will dramatize in an engaging way significant moments in American history and the women who impacted events. With Consitution Day upcoming on the following Thursday, September 17, part of the program focuses on amendments to the Constituion that have affected the lives of women since 1789. 10/8/26 Stroke Awareness, Prevention, and Recovery — Speakers include EntireCare’s Mark Ritter, Physical and Occupational Therapist, and medical specialists most likely from Mayo and/or Abrazo. 11/12/26 Spotlight on Southwest Native American Jewelry — We will take a look at the art and history of Native American jewelry, the impact of tourism on the development of jewelry making. We hope to have a speaker from the Museum of Northern Arizona to present, as well as experts on Native American jewelry. 12/10/26 TSW Christmas Program — Acappella Sedona will perform a concert for our members. We will serve refreshments and members who wish to bring cookies will be encouraged to participate ina cookie exchange. 1/14/27 Mindset Matters: How Thought Influence Well-Being — Donna Forsythe and Isabelle Griffith will discuss how beliefs and expectations often contribute to health and other outcomes. Drawing on the latest scientific research, they will discuss the powerful role of mindset on outcomes in health, fitness, nutrition, and aging. Topics include the mind/body connection, placebo/nocebo effects, positive psychology, and longevity. 2/11/27 Celestial Shadows: Understanding Eclipses — Kevin Schindler, historian and public information officer at Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, is a member of the Flagstaff history and science communities and currently serves on the board of the Flagstaff Dark Skies Coalition. He has authored nine books, including Historic Tales of Flagstaff, and contributes a bi-weekly astronomy column, “View from Mars Hill,” for the Arizona Daily Sun newspaper. In May 2023, he served as Astronomer in Residence at the Grand Canyon, and in 2026 was awarded the Copper Quill Award by the Friends of the Flagstaff City-Coconino County Public Library. 3/11/27 Your Heart and You — Dr. David Prutzman, interventional cardiologist at Biltmore Cardiology. 4/8/27 A DAY JUST FOR ME: GAME DAY! — This fun event will include board games, card games, Mahjong, Mexican train, and other fun group activities. Members can participate for all or part of the day. Lunch will be included. 5/13/27 Arizona’s Latin American Influences: History, Culture and Prominent Latina Women — From its earliest days as a settlement, Arizona was shaped largely by Spanish and Mexican communities and culture.
